About Crail

Situated on the East Coast of Scotland, the beautiful Royal Burgh of Crail is easy to find. The Kingdom of Fife juts out into the North Sea between the Firth of Forth and the Firth of Tay. Crail lies on the coastal road in the picturesque East Neuk of Fife close to Fifeness at the easterly tip of the Kingdom.
The historic fishing villages dotted along the coast in the East Neuk of Fife are well worth a visit. Many artists over the years have been inspired by the charming 17th Century whitewashed cottages of these small coastal towns with their crow-stepped gables and red pantile roofs, clustered around the ancient harbours.
Crail is the oldest burgh in the East Neuk, famous for it's medieval harbour. Today, traditional fishing boats continue to operate from this picturesque harbour where the local fishermen use creels to catch lobster and crab.
