David Sim
David Sim was born in Glasgow in 1953. He studied illustration and graphic design at the Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1976. He then went on to do a post graduate MA at the Royal College of Art in London in illustration with printmaking graduating in 1980. After leaving college he worked for a wide variety of magazines, design groups and advertising agencies.
In 1988 he returned to Scotland with his family living first in Edinburgh and then in Crail in Fife. In 2001 with his wife Susie he opened The Crail Gallery where they specialise in hand made limited edition prints in lino cut and silkscreen.
David also works for a wide range of children’s book publishers both in the UK and the US writing, illustrating and developing ideas for children’s books. His many titles have been published and sold worldwide by Pan Macmillan, Barefoot Books, Tango Books, Egmont, Piggy Toes Books, Chicken House/Scholastic and others.
David has taught and lectured throughout the UK and in Dublin as a visiting lecturer and assessor at many art colleges.
